Hazelnut Kernels
Hazelnut, also known as Thangi in the Pangi Valley, grow in the wild. Seedling trees are found growing wild in the Shimla, Kinnaur, and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh. Locals walk through the jungle and collect these delicious and healthy hazelnuts during the harvest season.
Efforts are being made by the Forest Department with the help of locals to cultivate more hazelnut trees around Pangi Valley. Cultivation is in a primitive stage. We wish them success in their initiative. This will help farmers by increasing their income because Pahadi Zaika will continue procuring at fair prices.
