White Coiled Basket

We cannot even begin to describe the beauty of this handcrafted tray by one of our artisan .

This old lady artist , by the name “Kishnu” heard about us and came to show us her products so that we could help her in the sale.
These baskets are made by the coiling technique used for weaving . As she stated, earlier she used to make these with palm leaves but now due to lack of availability of raw material and her old age she has started reusing the plastic bags and ropes for weaving. She also uses threads to make colored design patterns in these baskets.

We knew that the material used in these wasn’t natural (although the reused plastic threads are coiled around dried grass) , we weren’t ready to deny her that her art wasn’t good enough to be showcased by us.

So here it is.
